Study Tour
We are excited to announce a fantastic and exclusive opportunity for Include a Charity supporter organisations. As a campaign one of our strategic pillars is to facilitate professional development opportunities for gifts in Wills practitioners, whilst co-ordinating networking opportunities to share best practice amongst practitioners and encouraging collaboration amongst charities and broader influencers.
We were recently successful in securing a grant from Australian Executor Trustees Limited’s (AET) Learning for Impact Program to undertake a study tour in the UK and also develop resources during this year’s Include a Charity Week.
What is the AET Learning for Impact Program?
AET have been helping Australians engage with philanthropy for more than 130 years. Their philanthropic services include establishing and managing charitable trusts and acting as their professional trustee. In this role, they manage a portfolio of discretionary grants which consists of a strategic grants program (Learning for Impact) and a small grants program.
The AET Learning for Impact Program supports professional development opportunities for non-profit practitioners and professionals. In its third and final year, this program has distributed nearly $1,000,000 to Australian charities investing in the development of their staff.
The details
From Sunday 7 – Thursday 11 October 2018, Include a Charity will be leading a study tour to London, where representatives from six Australian NFPs will be offered a career defining opportunity to be exposed to best practice and learn and share with their peers internationally.
The study tour will go for 5 days, where scholars will meet with representatives from UK charities; learn about working with government and regulators; working with advisors and solicitors; and gifts in Wills fundraising strategies and tactics.
The tour is open to any fundraiser who has an interest in gifts in Wills and whose organisation is a Include a Charity campaign supporter, so please make sure you let all your colleagues know.
Scholarships will cover all in country expenses, including attendance fees to the UK’s Institute of Fundraising Legacy Fundraising Conference. Scholars will need to cover the cost of return flights to the UK and be provided with a week’s study leave from their organisation to attend. On return to Australia, scholars will be expected to share their learnings with the broader fundraising community.
There will also be one scholar who will be awarded the Include a Charity scholarship which will cover the cost of their international flight.
