Abbotsford Convent Foundation

Abbotsford Convent is Australia’s largest multi-arts precinct and a much-loved cultural and community hub of Melbourne.

The National Heritage Listed Convent is a thriving centre of creativity, community connection and wellbeing – with hundreds of rehearsals, performances, workshops, exhibitions, markets, festivals and events occurring annually.

Home to 120+ independent artists and small-to-medium organisations as studio tenants, two artist-run galleries, cafes, a radio station, a school, and an abundance of stunning green open space over 6.8 hectares, the Convent is a welcoming, inner-urban sanctuary – open 365 days, and welcoming almost one million visitors each year.

The Convent is owned and managed by the Abbotsford Convent Foundation (ACF) – an independent, not-for-profit organisation. We do not receive any recurrent government funding to manage or maintain the Convent precinct, and rely on our social enterprise model alongside the collective support of passionate, community-minded individuals, organisations and philanthropic partners to help protect, maintain and enliven the Convent precinct each year.
