The Animal Welfare League of South Australia (AWL)

The Animal Welfare League of South Australia (AWL) is an animal welfare and care provider committed to enriching the lives of both people and pets through connecting people, pets and our community

Established in 1964, AWL has a rich and proud heritage of being a haven for around 10,000 abandoned, lost and surrendered cats and dogs each year. AWL offers programs in South Australia that enable responsible pet ownership, and our services provide support for owners and their pets, as well as animals in need.

AWL is an authority in animal care and as a voice for the voiceless, we step up to support and find solutions for companion animals in need.

Our services are holistic and vast, including pet adoptions, foster care, rehabilitation, training, pet afterlife services, wellbeing resources, pet reclaims, and specialised education programs. To date, we have two animal care sites, five thrift shops, pet cremation facilities; offering after-life options, and pet boarding facilities, all so people and their pets can reach their full potential.

AWL is proud of its contribution in providing a high quality animal care facilities and related services to the state’s animals, their owners and the broader community.
